A Brief Overlook over the History of the ISPM

As Plasma Medicine grew bigger in importance and attracted more and more attention, several scientists launched a new conference: The International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM). The first conference was held in Corpus Christi (TX), USA in 2007 and was succeeded by San Antonio (TX), USA in 2009. Around the same time, the International Workshop Plasma Tissue Interaction (PTI) was held in Greifswald, Germany, as were other activities all over the world. Due to the initial success of these events, the International Society for Plasma Medicine was founded in 2009, with Alexander Fridman (Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA) as its first president.
